While travelling half of the globe I have experienced that we should not ignore the basic travel safety measures while we travel anywhere. Generally in time of our travel we are so busy in exploring new places that we overlook our travel safety and end up with some bitter experiences. I am sharing my view on travel safety measures that you should follow in your travel time in any part of the world.

In my last article on Thamel and Kathmandu visit I had shared with you my bad experience there that could have ended worst. Whenever you feel you are getting trapped in some troubled moments, try to move from the spot as soon as possible. If you keep yourself safe while you travel, you can enjoy your time better.

Travel Safety Rule No. 1: Never Get Distracted

In many parts of Europe, many people will try to distract you with their tricks. Suppose you are sitting in some cafeteria. A man or a kid sometimes will come and ask you to solve a card puzzle. Once you get yourself involved in that trick, they will take advantage of your distraction. They may take your phone or purse. So first thing you need to do is to maintain physical distance from gatecrashers and secure your valuable things first.

TRAVEL SAFETY RULE NO 2: SECURE YOUR LUGGAGE

If you are travelling with a luggage, you need to take care of its safety as it might contain all of your belongings. You should lock it properly and if you are travelling by train, chain it.

TRAVEL SAFETY RULE NO 3: SECURE YOUR LAPTOP

Sometimes we need to work while we are on holiday. In that case our laptop is a lifesaver for us. A laptop is a treasure for you and we might say that it is also a fortune for a thief. You need to follow some safety measures for your laptop.

Using a laptop lock is a good way to secure it. It is quite easy to use at any place like airport, cafeteria or hotel. Always keep your laptop in a back pack.

TRAVEL SAFETY RULE NO 4: SECURE YOUR CASH & CREDIT CARDS

Secure your Cards and Cash

Money is everything and you need to follow few safety measures to protect it. Avoid carrying huge cash if you are travelling anywhere. But sometimes and in some places you are required to carry some cash. In that case I will suggest to you to carry a chest strap wallet. Write somewhere a note of your credit card numbers. Also note the telephone numbers needed to cancel them as well. You can keep a soft copy of your cards in your password-protected laptop.

TRAVEL SAFETY RULE NO 5: STAY ALERT

Stay Alert

In a new city we need to be extra alert. We are not aware of routes and streets there. If you find yourself heading to an unknown place and you are not seeing any tourist around, don’t get panicked. But it’s high time to move from there as soon as possible. Don’t flash any map in your hand. Walk confidently.
